12 Streamable Plays That Depict Black Lives Pierced by Racism

INVITATION TO ACTION: Hold a Watch Party. Encourage a local theater to produce an anti-racist play.

DESCRIPTION: Violence in opposition to black individuals is nothing new — not in actual life and never within the theater. Especially in the previous few years, playwrights have been telling the tales, sounding the alarm and predicting our present upheaval. Newer works, too, created below the stress of grief, have been attempting to place George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor and too many others in a bigger context.

The drawback is that simply when we have to see these works most, so many have disappeared into the darkness of shut theaters. Luckily, some are streamable; right here’s a sampling of just some. They examine from many angles and in lots of types what it actually means to say Black Lives Matter.
